It’s been 3 months that I’ve been in the Los Angeles area, and I have yet to call Michael and get together with him! I think I’ll call him later tonight.
I must say, everything has really come together in the last couple of weeks. For what seemed like an endless amount of time, I was working at a local Pizza Hut as a manager, hoping and praying that I’d find a more sutible job for someone with a college degree. Instead of looking for jobs the old fashioned way of hilighting help wanted ads in the classifieds, I took a page outta my father’s book and did some cold calling to businesses. It worked, slowly.. but surely. I had a number of companies that took an interest in me, but only one decided to capitalize it and actually set up interviews. Now, I did have a few other interviews, but not of the same calibre. Anyway, I had an interview thanks to a cold call with a company called Systems Source, which ironically is in the office furniture business. The person whom I interviewed with liked me, I could tell.. but she was concerned because she normally didn’t hire people with no real experience. But I persisted, and spent a good 6 weeks courting this company until they gave me the job. I started last week, and I’m the first person they’re really “training” for the position I was hired for. Upon completion of my training, I will be an Accounts Manager (much like a Project Manager). So.. when a company needs furniture, it’s going to be my job to make sure that the project runs smoothly, from the initial purchase orders to the completed installation of the furniture systems. It’s a big time position for someone like me who’s still rather fresh outta college.
So now, my wedding in March doesn’t look so ominous, thanks to the new career.
Which reminds me, if anyone is planning on attending the wedding here in CA, please let me know, so I can get you more information ASAP.

I’ll be in Orlando July 19th through the 29th or 30th, depending on if I can get everything packed up here in Tallahassee beforehand. After that, my father and I will drive back here to Tallahassee to load up a Uhaul and start the very long trip to L.A. So, if anyone would like to do anything, please let me know. My parents are throwing some party for Kat and I on the 22nd… and anyone who’s in town is definately invited.
Besides that, life has being rolling along as usual. Less than two months before the move, I’ve transferred to a different store, and besides the General Manager, I’m the only manager who’s actually worth anything, so I’m pretty much doing Assistant Manager work for the pay of a shift manager (which is considerably less). But the good news is that our Area Manager will most likely put in an extra word for me, and if I so choose to stay with Pizza Hut out in California, I’m hoping to secure an Assistant Manager position. If I had decided to stay in Tallahassee longer, I would have probably already promoted, with the possibility of having my own store a year thereafter. Even though Pizza Hut doesn’t sound like the most glorious of jobs, I’ve been rather happy with how things have gone, and there is a ton of room to promote within the company, especially when one has a college degree. General Managers make a decent living, especially if they hit their bonuses, and if promoted to an Area manager, the money would be comparable to any uppr-supervisory position in any business. Even if I don’t choose to stick with Pizza Hut (I actually would rather go for a more upscale restaraunt, or out of restaraunts altogether), I still have gained valuble experience.
I’m wondering how everyone else is doing. I don’t talk to you all enough.
And, for your viewing pleasure.. if some of my friends and I had been in “Reservoir Dogs,” this might have been what we’d look like. Mind you, the picture my friend used for the photoshop is a few years old.. as I no longer have facial hair.

So, as most (if not all) of you know, Katherine (Kat) and I, are moving to the Los Angeles area in August. Looks like I’ll be living in Pasadena (not too far from Michael). What I’ll be doing there for work, I have absolutely no clue.
Katherine and I will be married on March 10, 2007. You’re all invited, though I understand if not everyone can make it. Trekking it out to California for a weekend isn’t always the easiest of plans to make.
